Stormont Vail Health Clinical Research Center Awarded 2024 Extraordinary Care Award
Stormont Vail Health is excited to announce that the winner of the 2024 Extraordinary Care Award is the Stormont Vail Clinical Research Team! This award is the highest recognition of Small Moments. It honors a team or individual who has made a significant impact towards Stormont Vail’s mission and embodies the spirit of Stormont Vail values and the Small Moments culture.
The Small Moments culture at Stormont Vail emphasizes creating positive interactions with patients, visitors, and staff. Every interaction is an opportunity to leave a memorable, positive impact and these Small Moments strengthen our relationship with those we serve, and through these relationships, we are able to improve the health of the community – our mission.
Since its founding in 2004, the Stormont Vail Clinical Research Center has participated in hundreds of clinical trials, partnered with thousands of patients and research participants and made contributions to numerous medications that have made it through FDA approval and into the guiding hands of providers throughout the world. The research center is engaged in research in many departments of the Stormont Vail Health system, with areas of focus in endocrinology, gastroenterology, general medicine, neurology, oncology, and pediatrics. The research center has provided patients in the region access to cutting-edge treatments, often years before they become widely available. Its research has refined dosing protocols, identified ideal patient populations, and uncovered secondary benefits all while keeping healthcare providers informed about how to best integrate these therapies into broader care plans.
One research coordinator shared her experience saying, “Our dedicated nurses ensure each patient feels supported, heard, empowered – creating an environment where quality of life takes center stage. Together, we are not only advancing science, but providing exceptional care, and driving innovation that brings hope and lasting change to those involved.”
By focusing on patient-centered research, the Clinical Research Center has established itself as a regional leader in clinical innovation, offering hope and improved health outcomes for patients. Its contributions have not only advanced global medical knowledge, but have also directly benefited the region by addressing pressing health concerns with state- of-the-art treatments.
“It was empowering to make meaningful changes in my body within a trusting and supportive environment led by a team of experts who were as compassionate as they were professionally skilled,” said a research participant who completed an 18-month trial. “Being a part of the collaboration between researchers and patients made me feel like an integral part of something bigger, contributing to advancements that could benefit many others while achieving personal growth I never thought possible.”
