Inclusive Art Exhibition in NOTO Featuring Capper Foundation Artists
Capper Foundation has had the pleasure of having Kennedy Haven and Kaitlynn Ray, two Art Therapy graduate students from Emporia State University, volunteer with participants in our Adult Day Services for over a year, working together to express creativity through various art media.
As Kennedy prepares to graduate in May, she is hosting “Connecting Through Creating”, an inclusive art exhibition featuring over seventy works of art made by over twenty artists with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. The exhibition is open to the public and will run from March 5 – March 14, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily at the NOTO Art Center (935 N Kansas Ave., Topeka). The venue and show are ADA accessible and include a tactile art section for individuals with visual impairments to touch and enjoy physical interactions.
This exhibition highlights the role that art plays in facilitating wellbeing. All art was made during a weekly therapeutic group centered around the constructs of positive art therapy. The different media on display include pencil drawings, watercolor and acrylic paintings, collages, tapestry pieces, oil pastel drawings, and mixed media sculpture pieces with a diverse range of subject matter.
