Blind Tiger Brewery Keeps the Streak Alive Winning Another Award at the World Beer Cup 2025!On Thursday, May 1st, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana the Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant earned an award at the World Beer Cup.

On Thursday, May 1st, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana the Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant earned an award at the World Beer Cup.  It was:

            Bronze Award          Smokey The Beer   Smoke Beer category

This is the fourth award for this particular beer.  This keeps the winning streak alive at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival that John Dean, Brewmaster, and Alvaro Canizalez, Head Brewer, and the Blind Tiger Brewery have been winning since 2001!

Over these years the Blind Tiger Brewery and John Dean, Brewmaster, has earned an astonishing total of 31 national and international medals and awards during his tenure at the helm of the Blind Tiger brewing team.  (Please see the awards list at the end of this release.)  This is more awards than any other brewery of any size for over 500 miles!  Truly an astounding achievement!

John Dean, Brewmaster and part owner of the Blind Tiger Brewery, describes the winning beer as follows:

Smokey the Beer    5.8% ABV,   11 IBUs

German Style Rauchbier  Hey, this beer tastes like smoke!  It’s supposed to; it’s a German style Rauchbier.  The malt, which is imported from Bamberg Germany, is smoked over a beechwood fire and the smoke flavor comes through in the finished product.  We use noble hops and German lager yeast to craft this full flavored brew.

This beer was brewed on the Blind Tiger brewing system at 37th Street and Kansas Avenue here in Topeka with all German ingredients (malt, hops, and yeast) and our superb Topeka water.  Smokey The Beer is on tap now at the Blind Tiger Brewery for Topekans to enjoy.
